Frequently asked questions
How do I make a reservation?
Simply via our reservations tab which can be found here. Dates are released 3 months in advance and we highly recommend signing up to our newsletter at the bottom of our bookings page to keep updated with the latest news.
Are bookings refundable?
Unfortunately, all bookings are non-refundable.
What if I have dietary requirements or allergies?
We require a week's notice and will always do our best to accommodate your specific dietary requirements. As far as allergies are concerned It is important to know that we do use nuts, gluten and other allergens in our kitchen so while we can ensure your dishes are free of these ingredients it is essential that you know that these ingredients are still used on the premises. In regards to dislikes, we cannot guarantee replacements or adjustments to dishes.
How do we get to the Island?
The Island is accessible via a Roman-built causeway that is clear during low tides and boat during higher tidal periods which can be seen here. Island passes are also available when booking and we offer transport to and from the Island from Daisy Meadows car park, Heybridge Basin in accordance with your dining times. If transporting via rail the nearest station is Witham where a taxi will be required to meet at the collection point in Heybridge Basin.
Do you take walk-ins?
Unfortunately due to the nature of both the Island and menu, we are unable to take walk-ins. Access to the Island is only permitted to Island guests and pre-booked Native customers.
Can we stay on the Island?
Yes. The island offers an array of self-catered accommodation which can be booked via the Osea Island website here.
Are children welcome?
Children are more than welcome. The menu should be suitable for anyone curious but is not 'child friendly' and we have had some delighted younger diners. We very much welcome children at Native but please be aware that we only have one menu to offer.
Can I bring my dog?
However much we love animals we cannot have dogs in the restaurant. Working dogs are permitted but we would like to have some notice if possible.
Is there a dress code?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! We highly recommend some sturdy footwear due to the Islands terrain. Umbrellas and waterproof clothing never go amiss.
What if I have mobility issues or physical disabilities?
We welcome everyone to Native but as the Island has mainly gravelled pathways and rough terrain we wouldn't consider it the easiest place to navigate, and wheelchairs may be very difficult to manoeuvre. If arriving by water taxi we must inform you that wheelchairs are unable to travel and that there will be a small ladder to climb when disembarking the water taxi.
What if I am running late?
We cannot stress enough the importance of being on time for your booking, due to the tides and precise timings of the tasting menu we cannot afford lateness as ultimately it will impact the whole experience negatively.
What's the latest I can book?
We cut bookings off 24 hours prior to the available slot due to logistics and having the correct amount of produce.
